A comprehensive online academic writing center developed by Capella University primarily for graduate level students is now available to the public at www.capellawritingcenter.org. Capella, which is an accredited online university that focuses on master’s and PhD degrees, created the Online Writing Center to provide its 23,000-plus students with instruction, resources, and strategies to help them navigate the writing process and develop clear and effective academic writing.
Shares of for-profit education companies slumped after an analyst downgraded four stocks and forecast a tough fall enrollment period because of student lending troubles.

ITT Educational Services, Inc. (NYSE: ESI) has opened its third ITT Technical Institute in Alabama in Madison, near Huntsville, Ala. The new location is the 100th ITT Technical Institute.
Classes are expected to begin with the academic quarter starting in June 2008.

The U.S. Lifelong Learning Accounts Act is a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to establish a program demonstrating multiple approaches to Lifelong Learning Accounts, which are portable, worker-owned savings accounts that can be used by workers to help finance education, training, and apprenticeships and which are intended to supplement both public and employer-provided education and training resources, and for other purposes. The sponsor of this bill is United States Senator Maria Cantwell from Washington State.
